1/1/09 Tim will be in the Degrassi Movie. He is also in a movie called "Screamers- The Hunting" as Madden. Tim plays Claude in the movie "Fire and Fury." He also plays "Double D" in the movie Production Office.

There have been some rumours going around about The N and their new programming direction. We’ll leave it to them to announce exactly how The N will look in its new 24/7 format… but everyone should know that tv series are produced well in advance, so that changes will necessarily be gradual.
You all know that The N licensed 24 episodes of Season 7 of Degrassi, and 13 episodes of Season 4 of Instant Star, and we have wrapped filming of all these episodes. So in 2008 we can expect The N to air Degrassi Season 7 (and in fact they have already aired the first 7 episodes, so there’s another 17 to go!) and Instant Star Season 4.
In my opinion, and of course I’m completely biased, these are absolutely the best seasons of Degrassi and Instant Star yet, I am just SO proud of them and I can’t wait for you to see them!
However, it is entirely possible that the scheduling that we thought was going to happen for both shows may be changed. You may have seen today’s press release from The N about their new format, and this release does not mention Instant Star so we can take that as a good indication that Instant Star’s projected February 15 start date has been pushed back… by how much, whether it is weeks or months, we do not know.
I’ll let you know as soon as we know.
As to further seasons of Degrassi and Instant Star, it is almost certain that there will be Season 8 of Degrassi. The exact number of episodes will be decided over the next couple of months.
However, in the case of Instant Star the resolution of the plot lines at the end of the final episode of Season 4 is such that it is completely possible to end the series gracefully at that point, and leave on a high note with everyone wanting more but feeling very satisfied with the series as a whole.
We have had ongoing discussions with CTV and The N with this in mind. And the decision has been made that in fact Instant Star will end at the end of Season 4. There will be no Season 5. We have let the cast and crew know this. We have let them know how enormously proud we are of them for having been part of the creation of one of the most innovative and original tv series in television history. And they have responded with thanks and congratulations—not many series get even four seasons, and Instant Star has been an enormous success in over 120 countries around the world for exactly that!!!
And I also want to thank all of you so much, for continuing to be so supportive of Instant Star and Degrassi and our incredible casts. It may sound trite to say it, but it is true… we do it all for you, and your love of the show has meant everything to us.

Hard to believe that we are now shooting the final two episodes of Instant Star this season!!! We wrap next Monday (although Tuesday we'll shooting some more Instant Star Minis) and then all the cast will be heading back home!!! (Till we start up next season, fingers crossed!!)

The featured song for 410 is actually Ultraviolet again, but it's an unexpected version of the song. For 413 the featured song is called The Music. There is another featured song which we thought was going to be in Season 4, and has been recorded, called That Was Us... but at this stage it will be featured in a webisode, but not in Season 4... but I think we'll put it on the album (it's a beautiful ballad)... so we'll still have 13 original songs...

FYI for the show we created a duet version of Here We Go Again, which Jude and Tommy sing at a fair ground... it's dynamite.
The remixes are updated versions which retain the essence of the songs, but I think make them a lot better--they are NOT dance remixes lol !!!
And the previews are full songs, they are both uptempo--I Just Wanted Your Love is a rocker.
At the special screening today the cast and crew really loved the excerpt of Perfect which we screened...

Perfect is sung by Alexz.. in the episode, Jude is performing at a fundraiser for a children's camp and is dressed in an incredible gold dress like Marilyn Monroe on the cover of the Sgt. Pepper's album... and the SME band are in uniforms also reminiscent of Sgt. Pepper, and when the camp choir and horn players and SME and Jude gather together on stage by the end of the song, well it is a beautiful homage to the Sgt, Pepper cover!!! and ps it was filmed on the 40th anniversary of the release of the Sgt. Pepper album in North America!!!

10/13/07 NEW EXEC POST ON GREATEST HITS ALBUM!
Just came back from mastering the Greatest Hits album. Thank you for all the suggestions, I really tried to take them into account... please understand that in the short time available there turned out to be only so much we can do, legally and practically. For those who wanted songs which were in the background of the show and never appeared on an album, we felt they couldn't properly be included on a Greatest Hits album, as they were hardly "greatest hits", but maybe we can include some in a future compilation album! And we were light on the Season 3 songs, because there will be a Season 3 album released at the same time... but you will note that due to popular demand we did include a Jude/Karma Duel version of I Will Be The Flame, and we've remixed some old favourites, and I think the remixes sound fabulous! Perfect and I Just Wanted Your Love are previews from Season 4 (IJWYL was written by Alexz and Brendan).

I'm in L.A. talking meeting about a number of htings, including the Instant Star albums... we're aiming for a December 4 release of both the Season 3 album and the Greatest Hits album... I'm pretty sure we'll hit the December 4 date for the Season 3 album, but we're really going to havwe to scramble and make some big decisions fast to get the Greatest Hits album out then!!

Instant Star won the award for Best Family TV Series at the Directors Guild Canada Awards last night.. about 20 of our crew were on stage to accept the award... Instant Star had to beat out three other great nominees, including a little show that we like to call Degrassi: The Next Generation!!!

Alexz is in town to record the song 2 A.M. for episode 411, and also to do some promo work and a video shoot... We're still shooting Degrassi now though, and will be until October 10th when we'll shoot Minis (both IS and Degrassi) for three days and then start in on episodes 410 and 411 of Instant Star...

You are going to LOVE the promo pics...
And on the show it is Alexz singing both Higher Ground and Live Like Music... the scene with Live Like Music is kind of cool--Jude has over-produced the song and a friend is berating her for this and saying in effect 'go back to what the song really is'... so the give a busker $10 to use his guitar for a few minutes, and Jude songs the song for real... it sounds so simple and beautiful.

Today was the gallery shoot for Instant Star, meaning taking a lot of promo pictures for the new season... the photos themselves won't likely be released until much closer to February when the show starts airing on The N, but maybe I can sneak one up on my MySpace--we took a shot of the 9 of the cast member and me pretending to be a cast member, oh actually there was also another shot of me with Laura and Cory, and Tyler hanging over my head--I'll see about posting those and you'll get a sneak taste of what the real gallery shots will be looking like!! Probably be a week before I can do that...

We will wait until we have recorded the songs for the final four episodes, then speak with Alexz and her management, and then we will decide exactly what the Season 4 soundtrack album will be like... no decisions have been made yet... BTW we are hoping to release the Season 4 soundtrack in February in the U.S., so we'll have to move quickly!

Jude goes to the benefit with Tommy and after she comes out of the limo it appears as if she is having a bit of a spat with Tommy. They are talking, looks angry and gets back into the limo which drives away.
At the same benefit, Jude gets onstage to perform "Perfect" with a choir of kids. She interacts with the crowd during this scene.
Tommy and Jude are in Nova Scotia at a Country fair. Tommy and Jude perform a song together - "Here We Go Again" - looking very much in love with each other. Something about "Going back to the end and starting over."
Karma and Speed own a loft. They celebrate Speed or Karma's birthday there. Jude and Tommy are not present. Jamie, Karma, Speed, Kyle, Wally, Zeppelin and Blu are all present at the birthday party.
Tommy appears to have been in some sort of altercation because he is bruised - black and blue. He is in jail and Jude goes to see him/bail him out.
Jamie still lives at his Nana's house.

The Zeppelin character as played by Tatiana is great--pretty sure you're really going to find her very compelling!!!
We finish shooting 408/409 on Wednesday, then Thursday we do the gallery shots of the all the Instant Star cast for press and publicity purposes!
BTW the feature song for 408 is Higher Ground and for 409 is Live Like Music (or maybe I got that backwards, just gapping out for the moment!!)

Yes, a young Jude will appear in the very first scenes of 401; yes, a major cast member from Degrassi will appear in Instant Star this season, playing a new character on Instant Star, (and this character will appear in a number of episodes); and yes, Alexz's hair is much shorter this year, she had it cut just prior to filming 401, it looks fantastic, really classic and elegant!

I can confirm that the photo is real and is taken on location where we were shooting scenes for Episode 404--the scenes involved a benefit concert that Jude performs for a camp fundraiser, singing the song Perfect--it's an homage to Sgt. Pepper' Lonely Heart's Club Band--can't waiut till you see the final shot just before the second commmercial, it's pretty spectacular!!! The photo was taken (I don't know by who) outside the theatre where we shot the performance...

For the songs up to episode 407, in the television show Alexz sings all of them with the exception of Remind Yourself in 403 which is sung by Tyler. As to who will sing them on the album--it's something we haven't discussed yet--in my ideal world the album would exactly reflect what happens on the tv show, but there are all sorts of other considerations, legal and otherwise, that will need to be dealt with before the final determination can be made.
Anything on IMDB about Season 4 has been made up by someone, including the September airdate. We're pretty sure the airdate will be February on The N.
I asked the IMDB folks to delete the plot outlines which someone had posted for Season 7 of Degrassi, since they were entirely fictitious, and I just noticed that IMDB has in fact just removed them. I haven't bothered asking them to remove the false info about IS4, since it's all up in the air...

Alexz and Brendan got so caught up in writing that they've decided not to do any public performance for a whileanyway... I'm looking forward to when they do though!
The full cast will be back in time for a read-through on Sunday August 19th, followed by a day shooting IS Minis on Monday the 20th, and then starting to shoot episodes 406 and 407 starting the 21st...
We do the soundmix of 401 next Wednesday, ican't wait!

Alexz and her brother Brendan are doing some writing for her solo album, and in their spare time (!) have written some songs potentially for this season of Instant Star--and Alexz is also recording some vocals this week for a couple of the songs on upcoming episodes--including one that she and Brendan wrote!
7/12/07 Laura Vandervoort has just joined the cast of Smallville which films in Vancouver. Laura will be playing Clark Kent's Cousin Kara, who is Supergirl and realizes she has powers like Superman.

I try never to comment on spoilers, true or false, because it's an endless road... just let me say that whoever claimed to have someone with access to scripts at Epitome must have meant some other Epitome in some other solar system in some other universe!!!
Just to be clear, the release of albums I was talking about are for the U.S.--in Canada the Instant Star 3 soundtrack is still scheduled to be instore and online July 3.
And yes, the greatest hits album is intended to be an Instant Star greatest hits package. The song I'm thinking of putting on as a bonus track from Season 4 is the one we'll be filming within the next ten days, in which Jude is surrounded by a children's choir in a set and with wardrobe that is very reminiscent of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!!!

Here's the scoop on the Season 3 album in the U.S., I know it's not the best news: because of the delays which were beyond our control it got to the point where we couldn't put out the IS3 album while the series was having its first run on The N. There were then further delays, so the current plan (but don't hold me to this I'm gun-shy about making predictions here given the delays in the past) is this: in the United States to put out two albums, both the IS3 soundtrack AND a Greatest Hits album which will have as a sneak peek one or two tracks from Season 4, and these should both be out in the late fall in time for the holiday season...
Yesterday was fun--we were on location at a yacht club for a wedding sequence and a Jude performance, including a fistfight and lots of mayhem--it was a beautiful sunny day so I can't wait to see the rushes!!
5/11/07 Alexz will be starring in a new movie called "The Devil's Diary" she plays "Dominique." The movie is currently in Pre Production. After she finishs filming the movie she will be starting production on Instant Star Season 4 starting with read throughs for episode "Your Time Is Gonna Come" and "She Drives Me Crazy"
5/11/07 Instant Star is coming back to CTV to air the remaining episodes of Season 2 in Canada. Airings will begin on May 27th picking up with episode 9 of season 2. "Problem Child"
5/3/07 Alexz spent 2 days recording the new song for Season 4 "Your Time Is Gonna Come" which is the first episode of season 4. The song is called "Ultraviolet"
For the second episode of season 2 "She Drives Me Crazy", the song "Deeper" will be featured. It was actually supposed to be featured in season 3, but they decided to put it in season 4!!
4/25/07 Instant Star Season 1 can be pre ordered on Amazon.com. It will be released May 22,2007.
4/9/07 They are now reviewing the first two scripts for Season 4 of Instant Star since Instant Star has officially been picked up for Season 4. Filming starts sometime in May.

"Funny Day on Instant Star :)
Well today a really funny thing happened on Instant Star - I had to wear a very specific dress for the last episode and we didn't realize it was extremely see through until I put it on. It was soooooooo see through - I'm talking u could see everythin - and of course they didn't know so they didn't alot any time for any wardrobe malfunctions. So the whole crew was ready and waiting for me to come down to film a scene, and I was in wardrobe basically naked as two wardrobe people tried to tape up my boobs and find a slip for me to wear under the dress. It's a good thing I'm not uncomfortable with the wardrobe people, but it was really funny. When I went down to set everyone knew what was taking me so long and they all were staring at my chest - haahaahaahaa!!!

11/29/06 Heres a little update from the Exec about how they are wrapping up Season 3 tonight. They have the first 5 episodes fully done and produced.
"We are about 90 minutes away from wrapping the shooting of Season 3--it's always an emotional time, we're just about to shoot Alexz's and Kris's final appearance, then Laura, Tim, Miku and Mark (plus some extras) will be in the final scene we shoot. Cory had her final scene earlier today, Tyler's final scene was yesterday, Wes's final scene wsa the one we jsut finished shooting, Simon's was Monday. Not sure if I've left anybody out--BUT most of them will be here for the final shot (I'll probably asked to give the official "That's a wrap!" call) and then if it is like last year there will be a bit of an impromptu jam session as musicians and singers in the cast and crew will sit around and sing some songs--really looking forward to that!"
